UTVs are amazing hunting vehicles, able to carry all of your important hunting gear—and your hunting buddies— while allowing you to travel off-road to get you close to your quarry. However, hunting with a UTV is very different from hunting on foot, and you’ll need to prepare accordingly to ensure you don’t scare off the game. If you’re making plans to take your very first UTV hunting trip, we highly recommend checking out our helpful tips below.

Gear Up

Wearing proper gear helps keep you comfortable on your UTV hunting trips. Before you head out, ensure that you wear a long-sleeved shirt and pants, helmet, close-toed boots, goggles, and a pair of well-fitting gloves. In addition, you’ll want to have a few other accessories to keep you safer and more organized in the wilderness. This includes a reliable GPS tracker, a gun scabbard to keep your weapons organized and handy, and a winch to retrieve any game safely and efficiently.

Safety Considerations

In any situation where weapons are involved, extra care needs to be taken to ensure that everyone stays safe. Keep in mind the safety of your hunting party and other hunting groups nearby. Don’t set up your blind too close to someone else’s. Give others plenty of space to hunt without running into you.  Don’t fire your gun if you’re close to roads or buildings. There’s a chance another person could be there even if you can’t see them. Make sure your weapon is unloaded and cased before you place it in your UTV. If you’ve never taken a hunter safety course, sign up for one.
